Dodgers Sign Mexican Left-Hander Luis Valdez (Dodgers Nation)


The Dodgers have an excellent history with left-handed pitchers who hail from Mexico, including both Fernando Valenzuela and Julio Urias. The organization has announced another international free agency signing of LHP Luis Valdez from Navojoa, Sonora, Mexico. Valdez turned just sixteen years old in July, born in 2003 (!).

Valdez is a very lanky kid, checking in at around six-foot-two and 150 pounds. He is projectable for that very reason and has all the time in the world to fill his frame out.

As the tweet mentions, Valdez has a pretty advanced and deceptive delivery for being so young and looked fantastic in the Future Stars Series.
