The Yankees are among several teams inquiring about the availability of Royals left-handed reliever Tim Hill.
Hill, who turns 30 in February, is entering his third big-league season and posted solid numbers this past year when he appeared in 46 games with a 3.63 ERA and struck out 39 in 39 2/3 innings.
Lefties hit .186 with a .465 OPS against Hill. In two big-league seasons, lefties have batted .211 with a .524 OPS.
Like a lot of clubs, the Royals, who need a third baseman, have an interest what the Yankees do with Miguel Andujar and Gio Urshela. Andujar has two minor league options remaining. Urshela is out of options.
Andujar played in 12 games last year before undergoing season-ending right shoulder surgery in late May. Urshela played in 132 games, provided excellent defense and hit .314 with 21 homers, 74 RBIs and a .889 OPS.
