Bowden: Handing out midterm offseason grades for all 30 teams (The Athletic)

The 2019 Winter Meetings in San Diego have officially concluded, but not before a flurry of high-end free-agent signings took place, including those of ace Gerrit Cole, who signed with the Yankees; Stephen Strasburg, who inked back in Washington; and former Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon, who found a new home in Orange County with the Angels. There were also several trades, including outfielder Tommy Pham being shipped from Tampa Bay to San Diego and the San Francisco Giants trading for former first-round pick shortstop Will Wilson.

And the wheeling and dealing isn’t over: Free agent left-handed pitchers Hyun-Jin Ryu and Dallas Keuchel are still looking for homes, and outfielders Marcell Ozuna and Nicholas Castellanos are enjoying their bidding wars.

As we wait for the next burst of moves to occur, I decided to hand out my annual midterm offseason grades, which are admittedly incomplete — all 30 GMs will continue to improve their organizations through…
