Reds To Sign Wade Miley (MLB Trade Rumors)

The Reds have agreed to sign free-agent left-hander Wade Miley, per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. It’s a two-year, $15MM contract with a club option for 2022. The pact could be worth up to $24MM for Miley, a client of O’Connell Sports Management. The option’s worth $10MM or a $1MM buyout, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

The addition of Miley should fill out the Reds’ rotation, already a strong-looking unit before they added the 33-year-old. Prior to the Miley pickup, Luis Castillo, Sonny Gray, Trevor Bauer and Anthony DeSclafani made up four-fifths of Cincinnati’s starting staff. At least on paper, adding Miley as the last member of the group upgrades the Reds’ rotation and improves their chances of breaking a six-year playoff drought in 2020.

More to come.
