The wrinkle that could make Gerrit Cole’s Yankees deal even bigger (New York Post)



As if Gerrit Cole needs more money.

If the ace were to opt out of his record-setting nine-year, $324 million deal after the fifth season, the Yankees would then have the option to keep Cole in pinstripes by adding one more year to the contract at $36 million, according to The Athletic. 

That would bring the deal to 10 years, $360 million, and the Yankees are just hoping Cole, introduced to the media Wednesday, breaks their 11-year title drought well before then.
