Dellin Betances now pitches for the other team in New York, but he’s getting well wishes as he switches boroughs.
After Betances, 31, signed with the Mets on Tuesday, the Yankees thanked their longtime reliever on Twitter following the official announcement, writing “Thanks for all your fire, @DBetances68! Best of luck!”
The man who made the move happen, Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen, tweeted a picture compilation of the four additions he made to the roster in the last month: Jake Marisnick, Michael Wacha, Rick Porcello and Betances.
“Happy holidays, @Mets fans!” Van Wagenen wrote. “We are excited to have these new faces as part of our team for 2020! Let’s go #METS!”
Marcus Stroman, who was traded from the Blue Jays to the Mets in July, welcomed Betances on social media Tuesday.
“Bullpen looking scary,” Stroman wrote. “I know [Jeurys] Familia and [Edwin] Diaz going to bounce back super strong. Betances now too! [Seth] Lugo as well! Loving this! @Mets!”
“I’m loving our pitching staff too. Elite!” he added.
