There’s a line in an old episode of Sex and the City that has struck a chord with me any time I’ve heard it. Perennially single, often cynical Miranda is having an anxiety attack while getting ready for a date with an extremely handsome guy she met, and she’s not used to this kind of attention.
“He’s so good-looking, he’s out of my league!”, she tells her best friend Carrie on the phone.
“Wait” – says Carrie to Miranda. “Maybe this is karma – you’re finally getting what you deserve!”
All these many years later this line came to mind while I was watching the Blue Heaven podcast last week, when Brook and FRG first excitedly discuss the acquisition of Mookie Betts, and make reference to the idea that we are not used to this as Dodgers fans – that is, this kind of excitement and possibility, getting what we want, THIS KIND OF LINEUP.
