WEST PALM BEACH — He loved the District.

“San Francisco, I was ready to leave,” Dusty Baker said Saturday, under a canopy cover, by his new team’s batting cages, as a typical Florida squall blew over the FITTEAM Ballpark of the Palm Beaches.

“Because I had been there 15 years — five as a coach, 10 as a manager,” he said. “Chicago, it was, at the end, it was brutal. They ran me out of town. Cincinnati, I didn’t really understand that one, but it didn’t hurt me like D.C. did. Because that’s my kind of town. There’s a lot of diversity, a lot of education.
