When Mets bench coach Hensley Meulens is expected to arrive at camp (New York Post)

Hensley Meulens has been absent from Citi Field since the start of spring training 2.0, but there is an expectation the new Mets bench coach will report to camp this week.

Manager Luis Rojas declined comment Monday when asked about Meulens. Once Meulens arrives, the Mets will have a full coaching staff, even if all are not present — hitting coach Chili Davis is working remotely because of coronavirus concerns.

Tim Teufel, the organization’s minor league infield coordinator, has been at workouts and could serve on the coaching staff if the Mets need a replacement at any point.

Michael Wacha threw three innings in a simulated game for his first work against batters. Matt Adams homered twice against Wacha, his former Cardinals teammate.

Among the Mets, Jacob deGrom was heavily involved with the players’ cause in the labor dispute between MLB and the MLBPA that delayed the season from the proposed July 4 start. But from deGrom’s perspective the season was never in jeopardy for economic reasons.
