Dodgers Clinch Home Field Advantage During the Wild Card Round (Dodgers Nation)

The Dodgers are well on their way to the playoffs having already clinched a postseason berth this week. They became the first team to do so after taking down the Padres in a big series this week. Today, they took down Colorado in a big way and clinched something else in the process.

MLB playoffs this year have a different look, we already know that. One major difference is that 16 teams make it in to the postseason to start with. Teams will also play in a wild card round that features short three-game series. For that round, the Dodgers have locked down home-field advantage. 

Home-field advantage for that round goes to the team with the better record based on matchups. Regardless of who they end up playing, the Dodgers cannot lose their home-field advantage. That’s good for a lot of reasons, but mostly because it gives them the last at-bats for those three games. Dave Roberts talked about the clinch after the game. 

We love playing at home, albeit without fans. That’s a good thing. The guys earned that. We’ve got to finish off playing good baseball though.
