Clayton Kershaw has accomplished a lot of amazing things in his 13 seasons with the Dodgers. He’s won 3 Cy Young awards, an NL MVP award, 5 ERA titles, and even a Triple Crown. Most recently, he won 4 games during the playoffs in the team’s run to win a World Series.
So when a guy like that wants to tell you about the best pitch he’s ever thrown, you gotta listen up. The Dodgers pitcher had a conversation with The Athletic’s Molly Knight recently. Knight asked Kershaw if had one pitch in mind that he might think is the best he’s ever thrown.
Kershaw could not initially answer the question. But after some thought, he landed on a pitch that he threw in Game 1 of the 2017 World Series between the Dodgers and Astros.
One of the best sliders I’ve ever thrown was to George Springer to strike him out in Game 1 of the World Series (in 2017) in the first at-bat of the game. That one was really good. That might be the best pitch I’ve ever thrown.
