Dodgers Place Tony Gonsolin on the Injured List and Recall Dennis Santana (Dodgers Nation)



The Dodgers are already making moves to keep their pitchers healthy in 2021. Dave Roberts had previously said he wouldn’t hesitate to call on his taxi squad guys, and he did just that prior to Sunday’s game.

The Dodgers placed RHP Tony Gonsolin on the injured list today with shoulder inflammation. That designation backdated to April 1st, the start of the season. In the process, Los Angeles recalled reliever Dennis Santana from the taxi squad. 

Dave Roberts was asked why Tony was out and how he felt about him moving forward. He did not have a timeline for the Dodgers reliever. 

I don’t know the timeline, I know we can backdate 3 days…it’s something that’s kind of been lingering for the last few days. He went out and played catch today and didn’t feel great.

Gonsolin had made the Dodgers Opening Day roster as a reliever. He had not yet pitched in a game, partially because of the lingering shoulder issue. Tony made 5 appearances through Spring Training with 2 of them coming as a starter.
