Dodgers News: Roberts Updates on Cody Bellinger Injury, IL Status (Dodgers Nation)

Cody Bellinger was absent in the Dodgers 5-1 victory on Tuesday night. The All-Star centerfielder came out of Monday night’s game after being involved in a collision at first base where he was stepped on and cleated by A’s pitcher Reymin Guduan.

Before Tuesday’s action Dodger manager Dave Roberts said the club was expecting Bellinger to undergo further testing and evaluation leading up to game time. After Tuesday’s win, Doc had some positive but still imperfect news.

“I don’t know what we’re going to do as far as IL, no IL, but I think right now, I think we’re in a decent spot. But even with that, I just don’t know when a return will be. … I think each day we’re going to know more.”

The Dodgers play a matinee game against Oakland today (12:37 PM PT first pitch) before heading back to Los Angeles for a day off on Thursday. With that, there’s a chance that Bellinger may not see the Injured List immediately, giving the club another day or two to evaluate. However, with utility man Chris Taylor also unable to comfortably swing a bat after getting hit by pitch, Roberts is left in a precarious position.
