Dodgers: Tony Gonsolin to Throw Bullpen But Still Experiencing Shoulder Soreness (Dodgers Nation)

The Dodgers are going to make do with the guys in the bullpen that they have. The good news is that they have several starting pitchers out there to provide long relief when necessary. Early on in the 162-game season, that’s huge.

One of those guys is supposed to be Tony Gonsolin. After opting for Dustin May in the starting rotation, the Dodgers decided to send Gonsolin’s arm out to the bullpen for Opening Day. It didn’t last very long.

Gonsolin went down with right-shoulder soreness that landed him on the Injured List. The latest update from the Dodgers and Dave Roberts is that Tony will throw a bullpen, but Gonsolin has some lingering soreness.

He’s going to try to throw a pen here tomorrow and we’ll see where we’re at. But he just still has some soreness in the shoulder.

Not having Gonsolin in the early part of the season doesn’t hurt the Dodgers long-term. Getting him back at least within the next couple of weeks would be ideal. Los Angeles is already short Brusdar Graterol and Joe Kelly out in the bullpen.
